TERMS AND CONDITIONS
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
-
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your entry into the Moonride event. By entering the Moonride and paying the applicable entry fee, you will be deemed to have accepted these Terms.
-
Age: The minimum age requirements for each category are outlined in the official Race Rules.
-
Transfers: We allow transfers. All transfers will incur a NZD $20 incl. GST fee. Your accepted entry can be transferred to another person, team, or category, provided any fee difference is paid in full. No person-to-person transfers will be accepted within one week of the event, and any changes to category or team members during this time must be made in person at registration. Transfers are not valid for future years or if the new entrant is ineligible due to age.
-
Withdrawals: If you choose to withdraw from the event:
-
a) Refunds requested up to 30 days prior to the event are eligible for a 50% refund of the entry fee (excluding booking/transaction/service fees).
-
b) No refunds will be given within 30 days of the event (including downgrading between categories).
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the event organiser at fun@moonride.nz before the applicable deadline.
-
-
Cancellation – Force Majeure: If the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (such as natural disasters, extreme weather, or other major disruptions), the entry fee is non-refundable. For clarity, “force majeure” includes events like fire, flood, earthquake, storm, civil unrest, war, or the actions of government or regulatory authorities.
-
Government Mandated Shutdowns (e.g. COVID-19): If the event is cancelled due to a government-mandated shutdown, or if you are personally unable to attend due to COVID-19 related restrictions, you will be offered the choice of either:
-
a) A 50% refund, or
-
b) A free transfer to the next Moonride event.
-
-
The parties agree that cancellation for any reason (including force majeure or COVID-19) does not constitute “frustration of contract” under Subpart 4 of the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. Instead, clauses 5 and 6 apply.
-
The Moonride team, event delivery partners, sponsors, staff, and volunteers accept no liability for any loss, injury, or death that may occur as a result of your participation in the event, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
-
Nothing in these Terms affects your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
-
By entering, you grant permission for Moonride and its partners to use your name, voice, or image in any event-related media, including advertising and promotions, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. We will comply with all privacy obligations regarding the collection and use of your personal information.
-
Moonride is committed to fair play and safety. All participants and their support crews agree to abide by the event rules, including any safety and conduct protocols. Failure to follow these may result in disqualification or removal from the event.
-
Moonride reserves the right to accept or decline entries at its sole discretion, and may revoke an accepted entry at any time.
-
By entering, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and all event safety information, rules, and conditions.
-
Moonride is organised by the Tohu Group, who are committed to protecting your personal information. These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, available at https://www.moonride.co.nz/privacypolicy. We only collect and use your data for event delivery and related activities. Without this information, we may be unable to provide some services.

This final clause is just here to make the list end on a nice round number.....
